Found in northern Italy in the district of Alba their harvest occurs mid-October through December.
Late at night in autumn treasure hunters, known as trifolau, go out with their “smart” dogs seeking Alba’s white truffles. They hunt at night to keep their secret spots from others.
Bringing their truffles, some as big as a pound in weight, to early morning markets where they are quickly sold and whisked around the world to select countries. Because of its organic composition, superior aroma, and scarcity, it is one of the most expensive items sold on the planet, selling at approximately $2200 a pound in the Northern Italian markets currently.
The Alba white truffle with its earthy and musty aroma is unforgettable.
We are delighted to bring you this delicacy from northern Italy as well as mushrooms served with risotto, fettuccine or gnocchi “alfredo” as an appetizer or a main course. We are also offering beef carpaccio with shaved parmesan as an appetizer or veal paillard as an entrée to accompany the magnificent white truffles.
